Visiontree®, a leader in cloud-based, patient reported outcomes, patient engagement, population health and multi-center research/registry solutions, is pleased to announce that the Visiontree Optimal Care™ (VTOC) platform was selected for use by Texas Center for Proton Therapy.
Texas Center for Proton Therapy is a 63,000-square-foot facility in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that will have the capacity to treat more than 100 patients per day in three treatment rooms. It is the first stand-alone LEED-Certified proton therapy center in the U.S. (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). The center began treating patients in November.
"Our goal is to deliver advanced, effective proton therapy with a patient-centered approach in every aspect of the care and treatment experience. Solutions like Visiontree Optimal Care are critical to our ability to plan, manage, and document treatment. It also helps us conduct strategic follow-up, while improving patient communication, care, and research. Visiontree also enables information sharing about treatment strategy across the Texas Oncology network of more than 165 facilities, including comparing conventional photon plans with proton plans, so that we offer patients treatment that is best suited to their individual cases."
Dr. Lee joined Texas Center for Proton Therapy following almost 14 years at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he pioneered many firsts in the field of proton therapy. Lee was the first physician to administer pencil-beam scanning proton therapy in North America. Texas Center for Proton Therapy will be one of only a few centers in the U.S. that offers image-guided pencil-beam scanning in multiple treatment rooms.
Implemented at 15 proton therapy centers around the country, 400+ oncology programs and 600+ sites globally, including 8 of the top 10 U.S. News and World Report Hospitals, with 2.5M+ patients, the VTOC platform provides a seamless solution for longitudinal, electronic patient reported outcomes (ePROMs) data collection, as well as an interoperability suite with all EHR, OIS and clinical systems. VTOC provides a Meaningful Use Certified patient portal and has also deployed its Web services API with legacy patient portals. VTOC delivers automated reporting of this electronic quality of life data at specified timepoints as actionable data to, as well as reporting to multi-institutional research and registry initiatives, including export to the Medidata Rave®, the database for NCI's National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN).
"We are excited to be working with Dr. Lee and Texas Center for Proton Therapy. They have developed a leading-edge center and we are proud to be a part of it. VTOC is also used by The US Oncology Network for quality of life data collection and reporting with numerous national NRG Oncology studies, with US Oncology as a leading accruer for these studies. We are looking forward to continue providing patient-centered outcomes, integrated care and research solutions for the rapidly evolving value-based healthcare ecosystem, cancer survivorship, population health and the proton therapy community."
With over a decade in clinical use, VTOC has documented improvements in patient care and the clinical workflow; including up to 20% reduction in non-urgent phone calls, up to 30% improvement in missed appointments, over 30% increased patient satisfaction, and over 40% improved compliance for capturing longitudinal PROMs. VTOC helps providers in delivering risk-adjusted outcomes data, on an individual patient or an aggregate level, for an optimized delivery of quality and efficiency in on-going patient care.
