The Future of Patient and Provider Communication - Visiontree Television Interview 2004

Visiontree, a leader in cloud-based patient/provider-centric health data management, communication integrated research systems, announced today that the Provision Center for Cancer Care selected the Visiontree Optimal Care (VTOC) platform for its patient and clinical portal solution to improve workflow efficiency and provide secure online access by patients and referring physicians to timely and relevant data for patient care. Please see The Future of Patient and Provider Communication - Visiontree Television Interview 2004.

"In our mission to deliver world class comprehensive cancer care, Provision Center for Cancer Care aims to connect with patients and their coordinated care team through the latest technology in patient-centered care and communication. Historically it has been a significant challenge to consistently collect registration, health history and patient-reported outcomes, since it is usually performed through a paper or phone survey."

Scott Warwick
Vice President of Clinical Operations for Provision Center for Cancer Care, located in Knoxville, Tennessee

"VTOC offers us the ability to move this process to an electronic format through a secure cloud-based portal to collect data in a faster and more compliant manner," said Warwick. "The platform also allows us to deliver relevant information to the patient including reminders and clinical trial information more effectively. VTOC is a great solution which we believe will greatly enhance communication with our patients improving their overall experience."

"Key criteria in our selection process was to find a vendor who is a leader in patient portal technology and has proven integration to MOSAIQ, our Oncology Information System (OIS), as well as integration with other clinical systems, and deployed in the mobile environment for a high level of patient and provider engagement."

Nathan Dunn
Director of Information Technology for Provision Center for Cancer Care

Using VTOC's secure, HIPAA-compliant, cloud-based technology, Provision Center for Cancer Care patients are able to create a VTOC patient portal account prior to being accepted for treatment. Patients, often living in locations remote from the center, are able to use the portal technology to upload lab results, key images and complete valuable form data that helps with their pre-treatment consideration process. With an innovative ‘match-n-merge' technology the patient's record can be merged into the Electronic Medical Record, even prior to being entered as scheduled patient. Data can also be shared using VTOC's roles/rules-based permission system for referring physician and coordinated care team access, including two-way messaging.

"VTOC is a win-win for both oncology patients and providers," said Martin Pellinat, CEO of Visiontree. "The system empowers patients to provide important feedback directly with their physicians electronically, as well as build their own personal health records to help make the best decisions at the most critical times and provide a means of long-term communication for their care. VTOC is also serving as the vehicle to transform the healthcare ecosystem into a true paperless environment, increasing staff's productivity and data gathering capabilities to share patient-level data and effectively measure patient satisfaction. With its modular, interoperable cloud-based/API approach, as demonstrated at Provision Center for Cancer Care, VTOC is providing real-world solutions for patient participation in their long-term oncology care and research, as well as data sharing with their coordinated care team."

VTOC v4.0 is ARRA HITECH 2011/2012 certified as a modular EHR for CCD/CCR clinical data exchange (04072011-1140-8) and fully compliant with Title 21, Part 11 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) statistical process control system pertaining to electronic records and signatures. VTOC is implemented in over 250 sites, including 7 of the top 10 U.S. hospitals with more than 1.5M patients using the platform for their health data management and research.
